Indian Creek, USA
01. Brittany Griffith and Mauro from Italy
Brittany gave out prizes round the campfire every night for various awards she made up, it was very entertaining. I think Mauro won his for tenacity or something. His famous quote: "My hands were like cams!"
02. Bridger Jacks.
This was taken in the morning from our second campsite underneath Bridger Jacks, really lovely.
03. US climbing legend and AAC president, Jim Donini.
This man's enthusiasm for Indian Creek knows no bounds!
04. Annanuki, 5.12-.
One of my best on sights, Annanuki 5.12-, Optimator Wall.
05. The six-shooters
The views in Indian Creek can be amazing, these towers were climbable but I didn't manage to get up there though, next time...
06. Paul's birthday.
Paul from Germany had his 27th birthday in the Creek, so the cooks kindly made him (and the rest of us) some chocolate brownies. They were awesome and were made in the 'sun ovens' that just got their high temps from the sun and no other fuel involved.
07. Micro-trash
One of Brittany's many awards was for picking up the most micro-trash at the crag. Here she's sorting through a bag of it and this is where the catchphrase 'Burn it!' appeared, shouted across by Jonathan Thesenga.
08. Dinner time
Me preparing dinner one night on our second stint to the creek.
09. Cams, cams and more cams.
Sorting through all the cams. As we all had quite a few between us, we had to make sure they didn't get too mixed up after the climbing. Some routes required ridiculous numbers of the same size (8-12), so you had to borrow from everyone else.
10. 'Middle Crack'- 5.12-, Resevoir Wall.
Here are a series of images of me climbing (well attempting to climb) Middle crack. I found this very hard. It was ring lock size and my fingers were just slipping through the crack. I couldn't make anything work. Fortunately, there were (very rare) flat holds at the top which meant I could get to the belay without pulling on all the gear!!
11. Shower time
Looking a bit of a mess but feeling great after a much needed shower at an RV park in Monticello. Our rest day activity!
12. Keeping warm
Many hours were spent round the awesome campfire.
13. First day's climbing of the ICM
Our group spent the first day at Cat Wall and had a great intro into the cracks.
14. Great views
This was the fantastic view from the Scarface wall on my last day in Indian Creek.
15. A cool barn in Monticello.
16. The funky cafe that we spent many hours one day taking advantage of the net access.
17. An amazing looking lump on the way to Indian Creek.
